Where it is
Nintendo TOKYO occupies part of the 6th floor of Shibuya PARCO, a seven-minute walk from Shibuya Station. It opened in 2019 as the first Nintendo official store in Japan and remains the only one in eastern Japan.
The floor is branded Cyberspace Shibuya and also holds Pokémon Center Shibuya, Capcom Store Tokyo and a Jump Shop. For a game fan this is the densest single floor in the country.
What is actually sold here
The important distinction is between general retail product and official store product.
General retail product — consoles, games, standard accessories — is sold here, but you can buy it anywhere, including at home.
Official store product is the reason to come. It covers Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Kirby and Pikmin, and includes:
- Apparel with store-original graphics
- Plush lines not distributed to general retail
- Homeware: mugs, blankets, tableware, cushions
- Stationery and bags
- Nintendo TOKYO logo merchandise
Nintendo does not wholesale this line. Outside of Nintendo NY, there is no official Nintendo store in North America or Europe, so almost everything on these shelves is unavailable in your home country.
When to arrive
Weekday mornings at 11:00 opening. By 13:00 on a Saturday the experience is completely different.
On weekends and during new collection launches, entry can be controlled with numbered tickets distributed in the morning. If tickets run out, you cannot enter that day regardless of how long you wait.
Check the official store notice page on the morning of your visit before travelling across the city. This single check saves the most wasted trips.
Seasonal collections
Nintendo TOKYO releases seasonal collections several times a year. The winter drop in November is the largest. Opening weekends are the busiest days of the year and the most popular items sell out within two days, but stock generally stabilises from the second week.
Tax-free
Tax-free processing is available from 5,500 yen including tax with a physical passport. Since Pokémon Center Shibuya is a separate store on the same floor, the thresholds are counted separately — plan which store gets the bulk of your budget.
Practical notes
- Photography inside is generally permitted, but check current signage.
- Luggage: large suitcases are awkward on a busy floor. Use station coin lockers.
- Payment: cards and major mobile payments are accepted.
- Shipping: the store does not ship internationally, so plan your luggage allowance.
