Your Name is the film that made Japanese animation a mainstream cinema event overseas, and its most photographed location is a flight of stone steps beside Suga Shrine in Yotsuya, central Tokyo. The steps are where the final scene takes place, and they appear in the key visual. They are free, outdoors, in a quiet residential area — and that last part matters, because the volume of visitors has become a genuine issue for the neighbourhood. The other half of the film is set in the mountains of Gifu, where the town of Hida-Furukawa provided the models for the rural scenes.
