Shinkai's early film ends its first chapter at **Iwafune Station** on the JR Ryomo line in Tochigi, and the station, the level crossing and the fields around it are drawn closely. The station has since become unstaffed and its interior has been renovated, but the exterior — the frame everyone knows — is unchanged. Tochigi city has been named on the 88 anime pilgrimage sites list for several consecutive years. This completes the set of Shinkai locations on this site alongside Your Name, The Garden of Words, Weathering With You and Suzume.
