Almost all of The Garden of Words takes place in **Shinjuku Gyoen**, and specifically around the **gazebo in the Japanese garden** where the two characters meet in the rain. The film is 46 minutes long and the location is one garden, which makes this the most concentrated pilgrimage on this site — you can do it properly in ninety minutes. Admission is 500 yen, it is closed on Mondays, and the film is set in the rainy season, so **June is when it looks like the film**. Bring an umbrella and go anyway if it rains: that is the point.
