SLAM DUNK
One railway crossing in Kamakura, and fans queue to photograph it every day.
SLAM DUNK is the reason a small railway crossing in Kamakura receives visitors from across Asia every single day. The Enoden line runs beside the sea at Kamakurakokomae, and the crossing framed against the water is the anime opening almost exactly. It is free, outdoors, and open at all hours — but it is also a working level crossing on a residential street, and the city has had to post multilingual notices asking visitors not to block the road. Go early, stand back, and it is one of the most rewarding stops in Japan.
