Steins;Gate

Akihabara, drawn street by street — but the building on the cover was rebuilt.

Steins;Gate is set in the real **Akihabara** of 2010, and it reproduces the district closely enough that you can navigate by it. The catch is honest: **Akihabara Radio Kaikan**, the building in the opening scene, was demolished and rebuilt in 2014. The current building is on the same corner with the same name and the same signage, and it runs official collaborations with the series, but it is not the building in the game. Everything else — the back streets, the small shrine, the maid cafes, the layout of the electronics blocks — is where it was. Akihabara has changed a lot since 2010, and part of what this pilgrimage is now is seeing how much.
