Summer Wars

Summer Wars is set in **Ueda**, a castle town in Nagano, and the connection is maintained by the town itself rather than by a rights holder — Ueda publishes a location guide map, and the annual Ueda Wasshoi festival in late July has a Summer Wars group that anyone can join. The **east gate of Ueda Castle** is the model for the gate of the family house, **Ueda Station** is where the characters arrive, and the **Toishi-Yoneyama castle ruins** give the view over the town used in the film. Ueda is 90 minutes from Tokyo on the Hokuriku Shinkansen.
