Anime location
Shinjuku Station east exit & Central Park
The district drawn as itself: the east exit, the skyscrapers and Central Park. The XYZ message board is not permanent.
City Hunter is set in the real Shinjuku, and the locations are the district itself — the crowds outside the east exit, the skyscraper district west of the station, the Metropolitan Government building and Shinjuku Central Park below it. Nothing is marked; you are simply walking through the setting.
Why it is worth it
The series is enormous in France and Italy and almost invisible to English-speaking fans, so the city's busiest station doubles as one of the least-recognised pilgrimage sites in Tokyo.
When to go
Shinjuku is the busiest station in the world. It is always crowded.
Good to know
The XYZ message board at the east exit has been revived several times as a film promotion but is not permanently installed — do not travel expecting it. Shinjuku Central Park, ten minutes west, is far quieter and appears throughout.
