Suga Shrine Steps

The staircase from the final scene of Your Name — a public flight of steps in a quiet residential street.

The steps run down beside Suga Shrine in Yotsuya, and they are the location of the final scene of Your Name as well as the film's key visual. They are ordinary public steps: no signage, no barrier, no admission. The shrine itself at the top has stood here for centuries and is unrelated to the film.

Why it is worth it

Free, in central Tokyo, and the single most recognisable live-action-matching frame in modern anime.

When to go

Visitors arrive throughout the day, many from overseas. Early morning is calmest and the light comes from behind the steps.

Good to know

This is a residential street and a working shrine. Do not block the steps, do not photograph residents, and keep your voice down — the volume of visitors is a real issue here. There is nothing to buy and nothing themed; come, look, and be considerate.
