Ueda Station & Unnomachi arcade
The station the characters arrive at, and the covered arcade where the news of the grandmother reaches them.
Ueda Station is where Kenji and Natsuki arrive at the start of the film, and Unnomachi, the covered shopping arcade a few minutes north, is where Wabisuke takes the phone call about the grandmother. Both are on the walk between the station and Ueda Castle.
Why it is worth it
Ueda publishes its own location map, so the three stops make a coherent walk rather than three separate errands.
When to go
Normal town traffic.
Good to know
Pick up the city's location map before walking. The Toishi-Yoneyama castle ruins outside the centre give the view over the town used in the film, but that is a proper hill walk.
