The nine Captain Tsubasa statues
Nine bronze statues supervised by the author, spread between Yotsugi and Tateishi. The first went up in 2013.
Nine bronze statues of characters from the series, installed across the Yotsugi and Tateishi neighbourhoods under the supervision of author Yoichi Takahashi, who grew up here. The first — Tsubasa Ozora, in Yotsugi Tsubasa Park — went up in 2013, and the walk ends near the high school that gave its name to the team in the manga.
Why it is worth it
Captain Tsubasa is credited by professional footballers across Europe, South America and the Middle East with getting them into the game, and this is the only place in the world you can walk it.
When to go
Quiet — ordinary residential streets.
Good to know
The full circuit is a few kilometres of flat walking. Tateishi, at the far end, is famous for its old standing bars — go in the late afternoon and finish there.
